Make Music to our God:

How we sing the Psalms

by Brother Reginald Box SSF

Professor Raymond Warren says, in his Foreword: "This book addresses the whole spectrum of contemporary psalm-singing, from the most subtle cathedral pointing to the earthy rhythms of the down-town mission chorus, and it will surely help each church musician in his or her own way, as Brother Reginald "well puts it, to 'draw us into the eternal stream of adoration and praise which is the prayer of the whole church'."

Make Music to Our God takes a fresh look at the use of Psalms in worship. Beginning with an historical survey, including Gregorian Chant and Anglican Plainsong, Brother Reginald examines their vital role over the centuries in providing lively and heartfelt praise. But he also provides practical examples for today in a way which will inspire all churches to make more use of this rich resource.

Brother Reginald Box has been a member of the First Order of the Society of Saint Francis for over fifty years and is based at Hilfield Friary in Dorset, England. He has served on the staff at Ely and Chichester Theological Colleges and has also worked in Australia, New Zealand and Melanesia.
